Subunit: Monomer (By similarity). Interacts with REST Sequence caution: Sequence=AAB71816.1; Type=Frameshift; Positions=267; Sequence=AAP34399.1; Type=Frameshift; Positions=267; 1 PDB 3D structure from [IMAGE] and Proteopedia [IMAGE] for CTDSP2: 2Q5E (3D) [IMAGE]
Tissue specificity: Expression is restricted to non-neuronal tissues. Highest expression in pancreas and lowest in liver [IMAGE] Custom PCR Arrays for CTDSP2 Primer Products: [IMAGE] OriGene qPCR primer pairs and template standards for CTDSP2 OriGene qSTAR qPCR primer pairs
Function: Preferentially catalyzes the dephosphorylation of 'Ser-5' within the tandem 7 residues repeats in the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A. Negatively regulates RNA polymerase II transcription, possibly by controlling the transition from initiation/capping to processive transcript elongation. Recruited by REST to neuronal genes that contain RE-1 elements, leading to neuronal gene silencing in non-neuronal cells. May contribute to the development of sarcomas Preferentially catalyzes the dephosphorylation of 'Ser-5' within the tandem 7 residues repeats in the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A.
